BREADED HARD CHEESE WITH TARTAR SAUCE

Do you know what bieno sirenje is? It's a hard, dry and very salty white cheese, I'm sorry I don't know the proper translation to English (check the pic below).
Anyways, it's an excellent appetizer that goes with everything. This was literally a lunch yesterday for me and my husband along with a large salad of lettuce, although I wasn't planning so hehe. I had 5 pieces of hard cheese, not very big. The way of frying is very simple, without dipping cheese in egg, flour and bread crumbs, and honestly, this way works the best for me.

Ingredients:
  • several pieces of hard cheese, cut thicker
  • corn flour for dipping the cheese
  • frying oil
For tartar sauce
  • 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 2 grated pickles
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • If desired, 1 tablespoon of sour cream or sour milk
  • black pepper
Preparation:
  1. Dip pieces of cheese in the flour and place them to fry on a little oil on both sides until well done. After frying, leave them on paper to remove excess fat.
  2. Tartar sauce is prepared by mixing all the ingredients and served on a leaf of lettuce or in a small deep bowl.
  3. This appetizer goes great with lettuce salad.
