Soft, spongy and tasty sweet kifli that everybody loves. The dough is easy to handle and the whole procedure is pretty simple.You can put whatever filling  you want, you can put chocolate or make savory variant with cheese or pizza filling.
  • 1 fresh yeast (40 g) or 2 bags of dry
  • 150 ml of yogurt (3/5 cup)
  • 150 ml of milk (3/5 cup)
  • 90 ml oil (2/5 cup)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1.5 tsp sugar
  • 1 egg
  • about 600-700 g flour
  • pinch of baking powder
  • 1 egg  and 1 tbs milk for coating+vanilla sugar
  • filling:jam
  1. In the warm milk we dissolve yeast and sugar. No need to activate it.
  2. Then we add the baking powder, salt, egg, yogurt and oil.
  3. With a spoon we combine all the ingredients.
  4. We start to gradually add flour and knead by hand until we get smooth and non-stick dough.
  5. Cover the dough and let it rest for  1 hour
  6. Then we split it into two parts.
  7. From each section we make a rectangular crust. Cut the crust in squares as in picture, make cuts on one side, put jam and roll.
  8. Align kifli on a pan coated with baking sheet, coat with an egg yolk and milk and sprinkle vanilla sugar.

  9. We leave them on a warm place to rise for 30 minutes.
  10. We bake in a heated oven at 180-200 for about 20-25 minutes. After baking, I coated each with a bit of melted butter. Sprinkle sugar in powder on top.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy.
