Some call it zebra cake, some call it marble cake! Whatever you name it, this is a very easy, light and delicious cake. You'll enjoy making it, you'll see. I bet you wonder how are those stripes made. Check the recipe and you'll see. If desired, you can also add nuts, and dried fruits.

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour (plus 2)
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tbs cocoa
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup of sparking water
  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar (10 g)
  • 1 sachet baking powder (10 g)
  1. Whisk eggs and sugar well. Add the vanilla sugar too.
  2. Add milk, water and oil and mix well.
  3. Add sifted flour with baking powder. Beat until smooth, but not too long so you'll avoid the appearance of air bubbles in the mixture.
  4. Divide mixture into two equal parts. Add sifted cocoa to one part and mix and add 2 sifted tablespoons of flour to the other half so they'll be equal in density.
  5. Oil and sprinkle with flour the bottom of a 25 cm round pan. I used a pan with removable sides.
  6. Pour 3-4 tablespoons of the light mixture straight in the center of the pan. Then right at its center (of the light mixture) pour 3-4 tbs of dark (cocoa) mixture. So the procedure is repeated until the two mixtures are finished.
  7. Bake in preheated oven at 180 ° C for about 35 minutes.
