24.05.2022 - THE DAY OF MACEDONIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH AUTOCEPHALITY (AUTONOMY)

Serbian Orthodox Church today 24.05.2022 approved autocephality of Macedonian Orthodox Church, ending the 55 year old dispute between the two churches.
The Serbian Orthodox Church today approved the autocephality of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archbishopric, between the leaders of the two churches, Patriarch Porphyry and Archbishop Stefan, during the joint liturgy in the Cathedral in Skopje. Patriarch Porphyry sent a tomos for autocephality of the MOC-OA to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which now only needs to formally confirm the autocephality of the MOC-OA, after on May 9 it declared the MOC-OA a canonical church.

"Thanks to your prayers we have established unity, and now brothers and sisters we bring you another joy - the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church unanimously in anticipation of the request of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - Ohrid Archbishopric, the Synod of our Church blesses and blesses "OA", said the Serbian Patriarch Porphyry, adding that technical-organizational details remain to be worked out, which will be followed by the official proclamation of an official act.

"Then all the local Orthodox churches will be notified in their canonical order and they will accept the autocephalous status of the MOC-OA," said Patriarch Porphyry.

Since its restoration in 1967, the MOC-OA has been internationally isolated and unrecognized by the Orthodox world.
